Yesterday I tried to manually prune a volume in my "Weekly" pool
that was in status "Used" but whose retention period had expired.
(I always have to do that if my operator has forgotten to insert
a previous "Weekly" tape, to work around the problem that Bacula
won't automatically prune and recycle the mounted volume if the
pool already contains another appendable volume which hasn't been
mounted.)

The "prune" command, however, after asking for my confirmation,
did not promote the volume to "Purged" as I expected. It just
stayed in status "Used".

Today, suddenly three messages "maximum use duration exceeded,
marking volume used" appeared on the bconsole for volumes in the
"Weekly" pool, one of them for the volume I had tried to prune
and which had definitely been already listed as "Used" by the
"list media" command yesterday. When I tried my prune command
again after those message, the tape went to "Purged" status as
expected.

Yesterday, the next scheduled jobs were to go to the "Daily" pool.
Today, the upcoming jobs are the weekly backups which will request
a tape from the "Weekly" pool. Could that be the reason? Is this
expected or intended behaviour? If not, how can I find out what
is causing it?

Thanks,
T.
