I just noticed that you had a thread about this and the solution was
to edit the Wait_For_Drive because it is broken on ubuntu. I suggest
not to do that but to use a fixed delay instead of detecting when the
drive is ready.

I would uncomment the sleep 15 from here:

#
# Increase the sleep time if you have a slow device
# or remove the sleep and add the following:
#     sleep 15
      wait_for_drive $device
      exit $rtn


and make it

#
# Increase the sleep time if you have a slow device
# or remove the sleep and add the following:
      sleep 120
      wait_for_drive $device
      exit $rtn


This will give the tape drive at least 2 minutes to settle which
should be enough in most cases.
