Subject: [Bacula-users] Problems with Full and Differential
Hi list,
I would like to apologize for
my english!
I have a problem with the size of last backup differential of a user:
What I know, the differential backup is the diference of the files between the
last full backup, but in this case a full was make at 9 am and the next
differential at 1 pm .... but if you can see this differential have a size of
6.2 Gb
I saw that and is also impossible that has been modified a size like
that!!
What is the problem?

Are you backing something up that is a HUGE file and changes
often? Something like a live MySQL database, a VMWare machine image, or the
like? If it changes EVEN A LITTLE BIT, the whole thing will be tagged by
Bacula as needing to be backed up.
For VMWare images, never back up the image itself. Always back
up the OS inside the image just like you would back up any other client.
