Re: [Bacula-users] Keep jobs from being run in a specific time window

Hi Alan,
thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately it's a proprietary DBMS on Windows :-(
I am currently searching for a way to issue the shutdown command in
dependence of the current time. Obviously this isn't quite easy with a
rich and full-featured scripting languange like msdos batch file
scripting :-)

Yesterday I added a new backup job with a run-before-client script. The
job was scheduled for 22:00. Unfortunately I made a mistake in the
script, causing it to hang. When it finally crashed, it was 09:00 in the
morning. Bacula immediately started the next scheduled job which is the
backup of our production database. The database was correctly shut down
during the backup and restarted afterwards. Of course my telephone rang
like a hundred times because applications all over the company crashed.
If the Database is mysql, why not mysqlhotcopy it and then dump that copy
and back that up?
Your downtime will be considerably shorter and it will only hang, not shut
down.
