I believed to understand from discussions in this group that Bacula will
ask for a specific tape, but accept any other tape from the correct pool
whose retention period has expired.
Last night, one of my Bacula installations refused to do that. A tape
from the correct pool, and which was beyond its retention period but
still in status "Used", was mounted. However the same pool also
contained a volume that had status "Recycled". Bacula refused to use the
mounted tape and requested the already recycled one instead. Only after
I manually issued a "prune volume" command for the mounted volume would
the backup run.
Is there any way around that problem?
