on another backuppc i've got the same problem on win 7 workstation. I added 
backuppc user as administrator and copy operator and it's working, but there i 
got backuppc 3.2.0 and smbclient 3.4.7. Today i will try to do it on the newest 
backuppc and smbclient 3.6.3 and i will give you some feedback
