And besides that - for some reasonably small number of hosts, I would
configure the DHCP server to always give the same IPs to the same MAC
addresses for the targets you want to back up, and then use that IP
address in ClientNameAlias for each to bypass the whole name lookup
issue.  That should work at least for wired hosts - but probably not
if some switch between wired and wireless connections.
