While I generally use and prefer CentOS myself and don't care that much
about the differences in the package management tools, there are
differences in the way the package repositories are handled that are
probably better on the ubuntu side. With CentOS, the base repositories
have very little beyond what is in RHEL and 3rd party repositories must
be used for anything else. However, there is no real coordination among
the several 3rd parties so if you use more than one you are likely to
have conflicts in the package dependencies. Ubuntu seems much more
coordinated in terms of including the repository configurations in the
base install and having most packages you are likely to want available
in these repositories where required component revisions always match.
