If you don't want to spend real money, I'd take your existing box up to 
4 gigs of RAM, and add a SATA card with a 2 TB internal drive or a pair 
in RAID1.  A faster motherboard will help a little but not a lot.  If 
you want to spend a little money, something that would let you run 4 
drives in a raid 10 or 1+0 configuration would help the most.
