OK, started another backup this morning, and checking logs now.

LOG.082008 has this at the end :
2008-08-13 05:09:35 full backup started for directory docs (baseline backup #5)
2008-08-13 09:11:06 full backup 6 complete, 59994 files, 52590071339
bytes, 28 xferErrs (0 bad files, 0 bad shares, 28 other)
2008-08-13 09:11:06 removing full backup 5

So what other info is useful to y'all?   Where do we look to find out
details on these 28 xferErrs.  Are those why it's not showing up?

This is why I jacked up that log setting to 99 in the first place,
because I could not figure out where it was reporting it's failure.
Aha, but I do see why I'm not getting the emails :

[root@localhost alanpc]# grep -i backuppc /var/log/messages
Aug 13 01:00:07 localhost setroubleshoot: SELinux is preventing
sendmail (sendmail_t) "getattr" to /var/lib/BackupPC/.forward
(var_lib_t). For complete SELinux messages. run sealert -l
320adfc9-77a3-4adf-9038-2af89ff61440

And perhaps that email has the information that I am missing!   Could
that be the case.

If so I can easily turn off SELinux long enough to make it work.
