Well fstab is the only data structure on the box that relates /dev/sda1
to /boot, which is what gets backed up willy-nilly.  It has to be
referenced _somewhere_ in the process!

Pre-mounting is probably the way to go here.

Been there, done that (for other problems).  I think I'll let this one
