I'm not understanding amrecover, and need some help. Specifically, I want to
recover a file foo.xls which originated
from /home/anne/Documents/Spreadsheets. I don't want it to overwrite the
existing copy, so want to recover it to a named directory.

My vtapes are in /Backup/amandatapes/Dailys. I created a
directory /Backup/Recover, then started amrestore.

[root@borg ~]# amrecover
AMRECOVER Version 2.5.0-20060323. Contacting server on borg ...
220 borg AMANDA index server (2.5.0-20060323) ready.
200 Access OK
Setting restore date to today (2006-07-20)
200 Working date set to 2006-07-20.
Scanning /tmp/dumps...
200 Config set to Daily.
200 Dump host set to borg.
Trying disk / ...
Trying disk rootfs ...
Can't determine disk and mount point from $CWD '/root'
amrecover> cd ..
Must select disk before changing directory
amrecover> exit
200 Good bye.

I then thought that maybe the recover directory had to be in the tree /home,
since that's where the file originated from, but

[root@borg ~]# cd /home/anne/Documents/recover
[root@borg recover]# amrestore
amrestore: Must specify tape-device or holdingfile
amrestore: Usage: amrestore [-b blocksize] [-r|-c] [-p] [-h] [-f fileno] [-l
label] tape-device|holdingfile [hostname [diskname [datestamp [hostname
[diskname [datestamp ... ]]]]]]
[root@borg recover]# amrecover
AMRECOVER Version 2.5.0-20060323. Contacting server on borg ...

200 Dump host set to borg.
Trying disk /home ...
$CWD '/home/anne/Documents/recover' is on disk '/home' mounted at '/home'.
200 Disk set to /home.
Invalid directory - /home/anne/Documents/recover
amrecover> exit
200 Good bye.

Where should this recover directory be? And is that the only thing that's
stopping amrecover going any further?

Anne
