I'm not sure if those warnings should concern me or not.

That's a known bug in tar 1.14, you need to upgrade to tar 1.15.x. You might get lucky (as you did) with tar managing to get to later files in the same DLE; I've already seen the contrary as well.

That doesn't mean any of your backups are corrupted, mind.
