instructions to the letter as shown in:

I guess that that amanda is not able to reuse tape 1.   Correct guess?
 If yes, why not? The tapecycle=5, thus amanda should know that it
needs to go back to 1 after 5 and I have labelled all of them at the
beginning using amlabel.



I am setting up an 'archive' configuration for full backup to tape.  I
am trying to understand the changer configuration.

I did not create any file in /var/lib/amanda/test, but amanda created:
changerfile-access
changerfile-clean
changerfile-slot

However, there is no /var/lib/amanda/test/changerfile as the example
has in amanda.conf.


I have a /dev/sg1 medium changer, Quantum Autoloader

/usr/sbin/mtx -f /dev/sg1 inquiry
Product Type: Medium Changer
Vendor ID: 'QUANTUM '
Product ID: 'UHDL            '
Revision: '0023'
Attached Changer: No

I suppose I have to use /usr/lib/amanda/chg-zd-mtx

I see that the file has to be edited to reflect my specific situation.
 Do I then move the file to /var/lib/amanda/archive and define this in
/etc/amanda/archive/amanda.conf?

The documentation is not very clear on this.
