Thanx you guys for the feedback.
I will build a test setup using RAIT with vtapes and mirroring, it looks
like a cool solution
I have one more question:
Do I have to make the vtapes a large as the real tapes? I though it
wouldn't just be wise but mandatory... But even wiser to ask you guys ;)
The problem does not exist, because you never have to specify the size
of the individual members of a RAIT set. You specify the size of what
Amanda sees as one "rait:{..,..}"-tape. Also, creating a vtape is just
creating the directory and making sure that there is enough disk space.
When Amanda bumps into end of tape on of the members of a RAIT set,
the next set of tapes is used (if you had runtapes > 1 of course).
Effectively this makes a RAIT set with two members (mirror) as small as
the smallest of the members.
