There was a lot of noise on one of the usb lists a while back that
caused me to draw the conclusion that any of those adaptors with a
genesys chipset in them were to left on the shelf at the vendor, and
that there was a skip first byte sort of error in libusb. Both of
those *may* be fixed by now. Now meaning several months newer than
WBEL4. If I were to consider such a lashup, the ieee1394 stuff has
been cleaned up considerably in the last 6 months also, so I'd build
a recent kernel, and look at the choices of firewire (ieee1394)
enclosures available. I'd suspect they would be far more dependable
than usb at this time. For one, the specs are much more tightly
controlled in that camp than they are in the usb camp.
