Could this be a problem with
~ a) a firewall blocking access to (one of) the port(s)
on Linux i would say iptables. I have no idea what
the equivalent on HP-UX is...
~ b) tcp-wrappers not allowing access (even to localhost)
(check /etc/hosts.* files)?
