Don't worry, change from localhost is on my list of things to change,
but only after I have caught up on other issues.

localhost was there when I took over. I need to catch up on the
backups before switching from localhost, since switching away from
localhost requires level 0 backups everywhere.

However, using localhost for samba doesn't seem as bad as for
non-samba. //localhost/$$redbird/c$ is the same, no matter what
machine is used as the amanda server.

I wasn't complete in my information. After all of the Linux clients
have finished, I still have only one active samba dumper, with (from
amstatus):

3 dumpers idle : client-constrained

This is amanda-2.4.4p3, but the way.
