Good morning,

I'm sorry - this is probably not an amanda issue but I don't yet see
the stupid thing I've neglected to do.

I've downloaded 2.4.4p1 (is that the version I really want?) because
we've reached the point where we are going to have to begin segmenting
some of the larger user partitions and use tar rather than (xfs)dump,
[and will end up doing the same on Solaris shortly].

I built amanada using the command

It was created by configure, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.57. Invocation command line was

  $ ./configure --with-tcpportrange=10084,10100 --with-udpportrange=932,948 --wi
th-user=amanda --with-group=sys

not because I really needed to restrict port ranged but since I needed to
do it for some systems in the DMZ I figured I might as well be consistent.

the build, # make, ran fine, no errors.

# make install however failed.

# make install
Making install in config
Making install in common-src
        /bin/sh ../config/mkinstalldirs /usr/local/lib
 /bin/sh ../libtool --mode=install /usr/local/bin/install -c libamanda.la
/usr/local/lib/libamanda.la
/usr/local/bin/install -c .libs/libamanda-2.4.4p1.so
/usr/local/lib/libamanda-2.4.4p1.so
/usr/local/bin/install: can't open libamanda-2.4.4p1.so: No such file or
directory.
*** Error code 2 (bu21)

*** Error code 1 (bu21)

I'm running the installation as root, libamanda-2.4.4p1.so exists

# ls -l ./common-src/.libs/libamanda-2.4.4p1.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 brian nuucp 353372 Sep 8 15:35
./common-src/.libs/libamanda-2.4.4p1.so

The # install utility exists, though its a link (pointing to a link)
and so does the /usr/local/lib directory, which is local to the system
I'm working on.

I'm trying to run the installation on IRIX 6.5.19m.

I went back to my 2.4.2 kit, I need a tar ball around just because...
and it reinstalled fine, no problems at all.

If you can tell me what I've missed I'd be grateful.

                                                thanks,

                                                Brian
