Woops, following up on myself...

The new default configs are written, as per RedHat, in
/etc/amanda/DailySet1, but will be called .rpmnew if there already is
such a file, so no config files are overwritten.

It is up to you to merge your old configs with the new ones, I did it
with dual editor windows.
