I use Backup Exec to write to an SMB drive then use amanda to dump to 
tape.  Both perform about the same: 10G-15G per hour on a 100 Mbps 
ethernet and an AIT-2 drive.  According to cricket, my transfer rates 
are in the neighborhood of 75 Mbps to 80 Mbps so I suspect your 
biggest bottleneck will be bandwidth on your WAN.
