Thanks Skylar,

What was the average time for your node exports? I will need to factor that in
as well.

This is how we did our v5->v6 migration, with the exception that we actually
did fresh backups for some of our larger clients due to the amount of time
required to run EXPORT NODE. Basically our procedure was:

1. Stand up a new TSM server as a library client to the old one (with all the
requisite pathing/zoning) 2. For the small clients 2a. Use EXPORT NODE from the
old server to the new server 2b. Delete the backup data entirely from the old
server 2c. Switch the servername stanza on the client to point at the new
server 3. For the big clients 3a. Run incremental backups to the new server 3b.
Configure day-to-day backups to point to the new server, while leaving a
servername definition pointing to the old server in case we need restores 3c.
Using some sed/awk magic on QUERY BACKUP output, delete the active versions of
the backups on the old server, then expire the new active versions (DELETE
BACKUP deletes the active version and then promotes the latest inactive version
to be active, and then the EXPIRE makes the active version inactive again) 3d.
Use EXPORT NODE on the archive data if applicable 4. Keep the old TSM server
around until the last of the backup data expired
