I have been using FUJI tapes as well as IBM tapes and haven't seen
any
difference. When I looked at the FUJI box and IBM box they look the
same except
for the sticker on them. I think BASF is manufacturing LTOs too.
I was
skeptical at first but I haven't had any problems yet. I have been
using them
        since April.

         Subject: LTO Tapes

        Hi,

I am having great difficulty buying the IBM LTO tapes for my 3583
Library.
I've been searching high and low for IBM PN 08L9120 but all of my
suppliers
are telling me that I will have a 6-8 week wait time.

Assuming that the LTO tapes were standard I ordered 25 Seagate tapes
(PN
STUM200). As soon as any of these tapes was put into the drive the
drive
bombed out giving me a ! error on the display.

When IBM came in to investigate the problem they took one of my
tapes away
and told me that they would need to do some programming changes to
support
        the tapes.

Are all LTO tapes not created equal? :) I would really appreciate
hearing
which tapes you have had success with in a 3583 Library. Am I doing
something wrong with the Seagate tapes?

Any help or guidance is appreciated.
