Marketing is losing opportunities in taking a passive approach in waiting
for customers to come to them. There are some 1400 customers on ADSM-L,
and I'll wager that Marketing hasn't ventured to make any communication
with that ready list of contacts over a prospective Linux product.
By definition, "marketing" means being proactive, going out to gauge
demand and offer possibilities for making products and income.
And I think we all sense that there is a lot of interest in solid,
commercial products for a Linux environment, particularly in the Linux
initiative to offer an alternative to the "broken windows" environment.
So, come on, Tivoli... Don't just sit there: get a few Linux developers
and start creating product. The obvious place to begin is a TSM Linux
Client, which will whet the appetite for a Server. Is this all too
obvious, or am I missing something?
