Hi Martin,

               Now, I have 7336 Tape library configured on the ADSM machine. I
want to replace this one with 3570.
I replace 3570 with 7336. I installed Atape 3.1.1.0. After I reboot system, I
can not see /dev/rmt2.smc. I saw only /dev/rmt2 and /dev/rmt3 (rmt0, rmt1 is
defined to my 8mm (internal tape) and 4mm (7336 drive). I think this
might because level of Atape? Which level do you apply. One more, my AIX is
4.2.0 and ADSM is V2.1 level 12.

 I assume that you run ADSM at a RS/6000 (AIX).
 After installing ATape and rebooting you get a new device /dev/rmt0.smc.
(or /dev/rmt1.smc ...). This is the System Media Changer.
 You will get a /dev/rmt0 and a /dev/rmt1 for the two tape drives in the
library.
 Check that the library is NOT in split mode!
 At the dsmadmc prompt you can now:

 def libr 3570lib libtype=scsi device=/dev/rmt0.smc
 def drive 3570lib 3570drive0 device=/dev/rmt0
 def drive 3570lib 3570drive1 device=/dev/rmt1
 def devc 3570class devtype=3570 library=3570lib mountlimit=2

 Hope that this will help you.
