Item Subject: list of scratch volumes
     How did you check them in initially ?
     If you did a :
     checkin libvol libxxx status=scratch checklabel=no search=yes
     then you should be able to do a query libvol command and see the
     scratch tapes.  I can't say what status=private yields 'cause I've
     never used it.
     I'm attaching a q libvol below
     BUT why do you want to format the tapes...?  normal ADSM cycles
     shouldn't require you to ever need to reformat them...
     OH, OOPS, I read things again... if you need a list of NEW volumes
     that were inserted into the atl, labeled, and now need to be checked
     in use the search...
     NOTE ********* I ONLY USE THE SEARCH IN LIBRARIES THAT ARE ATTACHED TO
     A SINGLE ADSM SERVER AND WHERE THE LIBRARY IS ONLY USED BY ADSM.
     I've noticed from minor booboo's that the library manager has lost its
     mind on the status of some of the tapes... this will correct itself
     with time but in a shared environment there stands the chance of
     another machine grabbing a tape belonging to another machine and using
     it.... IN SHARED LIBRARIES I DO EVERY THING BY SPECIFIC VOLSER's
     IN a single environment ADSM keeps track of what it has data on and
     what it doesn't and I've never had the "SEARCH" option walk on any
     good data (knock on wood)

I need to get a list of all my tapes that have been initialized by the
'dsmlabel' command in ADSM (AIX).  The 'query volume' command only gives me a
list of tapes that have been assigned to a storage pool.  I also need to list
my scratch tapes.
