Hi there,

I've got a problem backupping my files. A standard NT backup with a normal OPT should use de default management class from the policydomain where the node was initialy placed. When I backup my files, the files themselves get backupped using this default management class. But ... on directory level, it uses a diverent management class from the same policy. This means that de policy of the management class used by the directories has privilige to the default one, so all the files that were backed up, use the management class of the directories. Is this a BUG ?? if not, how do i correct it.

greetings,

I'm pretty sure you'll find that the default for directories is to use the mgmt class with the longest retention, which I recall is by design to ensure you've got the req'd directory structure when restoring a file.

the DIRMC include can override this, but of course you have to remember to put this in the dsm.opt.

try doing a search on DIRMC and you should find a lot of discussion.

Regards

George
