Hi all,

Hope this is the correct forum.
Been getting this error in my dsmerror.log on my Windows server:

08/08/2008 09:56:56 ANS1496W Duplicate include/exclude option 'INCLUDE C:\*\*' found while processing the client options file.
This might produce unexpected results.

I tried searching for the text in the dsm.opt file - can't seem to find out what this means? Is it a bug?

I removed Domain C: D: used all local instead - nothing seems to work yet.

NOTE: My dsm.opt file is attached.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

That has to be the longest list of excludes I've ever seen. However, I don't see an all encompassing include in there anywhere, and that may be the problem.

Add:
INCLUDE "*:\...\*"
to the top of all that and see what happens. (no, you shouldn't need it, but with all those excludes you may be stressing things). Also check to see if the client is assigned to a client option set, that may be where the problem lies. The line I posted is the default now, and there may be a line like that in the option set.

Hi,

I've removed a number of lines from my dsm.opt and I still get the error!
When I run q cloptset - nothing is returned?

tsm: WILMSNTCH5>query cloptset
ANR2034E QUERY CLOPTSET: No match found using this criteria.
ANS8001I Return code 11.

I tried attaching my dsm.opt again with the changes - did it go thru?

Thx for the quick response.

run command line client - dsmc.exe
type: query inclexcl
you see compiled include/exclude list.
I hope it helps.

Hi,

I looked at q inclexcl and I still can't figure it out?
I'vwe also looked at the Incremental schedule on the server - there is nothing in the Object or Options fields.

See attached output of my inclexcl.
TIA.

Did you try to add the include "*:\...\*" line?
Also what happened when you tried to backup from the command line?

I'm trying to understand why it even cares about C: because you don't even have that drive included in your domain statement.

Do you have some include/excludes in the registry?

Hi,

Yes, I tried addding to dsm.opt and restarting scheduler - same rrror - see below:

SCHEDLOGRetention 14,D
ERRORLOGRetention 14,D
*SCHEDLOGName "C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient\dsmsched.log"
*ERRORLOGname "C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient\dsmerror.log"

INCLUDE "*:\...\*"

*Custom Settings:

dsmerror.log:

08/08/2008 14:51:23 ANS1496W Duplicate include/exclude option 'INCLUDE C:\*\*' found while processing the client options file.
This might produce unexpected results.

Maybe I need to create/generate a new dsm.opt file from scratch - thru the GUI or by hand?

Searched the registry looking for include statements - nothing relevant to TSM.

Any other ideas?

TIA.

Did your scheduler use the same dsm.opt which you edit ?
For check it:
DSMCUTIL LIST (to view a list of the services)
DSMCUTIL QUERY /NAME:"name of scheduler service usually TSM scheduler"

Hi Efim & all,

The Client service is installed and the only scheduler I am using.

However - it looks like I am using the "wrong" dsm.opt" file!!!!
For some reason it is pointing to another coppy in an archive dir.
Can I change that path to the dsm.opt file in the registry or TSM GUI - where or how?

Thanks!

Launch the TSM GUI, Utilities, Setup Wizard, Configure the TSM Client Scheduler, Update a previously installed scheduler, select the schedule, Specify the option file that TSM should use: Here is where you can point to the correct DSM.OPT file. Hope this helps.

Hi all,

Thanks to all who responded to my post for your tips and help!

My dsm.opt is in order now and I have identified the scheduler was using the wrong one.
And I was able to change the path with teh GUI client - much appreciated!!!
