Hi, I'm wondering if setting minstreamfilesize will help with file retrieval. I'm using the HSM 5.5 client and server on AIX 5.3 with jfs2. Do you have any suggestions for how large a value would be most beneficial?
Thank you in advance!

The setting for minstreamfilesize depends on your environment. - The
idea for streaming recall mode (and the minstreamfilesize option) is to better support applications which recall very large files and should not wait until a whole file is premigrated/resident again.

For example consider a video on demand environment. Not all video files are kept on disk (in premigrated state). Only those files are recalled to disk (to premigrated state) which are needed. In this case minstreamfilesize is typically set to a few 10 MB. After these few 10 MB of a file has been recalled users can start to watch a video.

Doctors are viewing jpeg and mpeg

Our doctors are viewing jpeg and mpeg echo studies. So I think this situation may be helped by this option. How is it setup? In dsm.opt ?
