VSS problems with Fastback for Exchange in a CCR cluster

Hi,

I'm trying to install Fastback in our Exchange 2007 CCR environment.
But I have problems with VSS.

I have install the Fastback client, mount and Fastback for Exchange on our Exchange 2007 CCR cluster. Installed on the passive node.
To install the Fastback client I had to shutdown the cluster services on the node and start MS-DTC and manual reg. the VSS(XR_VSS).
Windows 2003 x64
Fastback 6.1 x64 (both client and Exchange)

But when trying to perform a backup (snapshot from the Fastback server), it fails due to "FBSS7011E VSS freeze failed on <server name>".

There are a lot of VSS (event id 11 and 8193) erros in the Windows server Event log.

Event ID: 8193 , source VSS
Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreateInstance.
hr = 0x80029c4a.

Event ID: 11, source VSS
Volume Shadow Copy Service information: The COM Server with CLSID {faf53cc4-bd73-4e36-83f1-2b23f46e513e} and name VSSEvent cannot be started. [0x80029c4a]


Have any successfully installed Fastback on a CCR cluster?
Any idea why I got these VSS errors?

VSS not configured on one of the cluster node.

The problem is solved, VSS was not "configured" on the cluster node I tested Fastback on. The Exchange admin had only configured the passiv node for VSS When tested on the other node, it worked well. But I had to do some steps before it worked.
-Stop the cluster services
- Stop COM+ (Appl)
-Start DTC
- Start COM+
Install Fastback client etc.
reboot
- Do the same procedure again with the services (cluster, dtc, com+)
- manual register the vss writer (see below or follow the link)

To manually register the XR_VSS service if it is not listed in Services window:

a. Open a DOS command prompt:
b. Navigate to the FastBack Client directory
c. Run the following command:
On Windows 2003 and 2008 : cscript.exe register_app.vbs -register XR_VSS FastBackVSS.dll FastBackVSS
On Windows 2008 64bit
FBVSSComServer.exe -regserver
cscript register_app.vbs -register XR_VSS FastBackVSS64.dll FastBackVSS
