Every since we upgraded to v5.2.3.4, if a tsm server hangs or blue screens, any tapes in drives at the time are given a status of 'remote' in the volume history.
Once all the data on them expires, they remain private and you cannot assign them a status of Scratch
Its as if TSM is being extra careful and doesnt want you to ever use these tapes again in case they caused the problem
I now have 50 or so perfectly good tapes which i cannot use.
I have tried using a different barcode, but TSM will not let you overwrite a digital label with a different one
Is there any way round this?
this is the command:
all: select volume_name,date_time,type from volhistory where volume_name='DJF452'
and here is the output:
RONALD_SERVER1 follows:
VOLUME_NAME DATE_TIME TYPE
------------------ ------------------ ------------------
DJF452 2002-02-06 STGNEW
15:22:07.000000
DJF452 2002-04-22 STGDELETE
19:24:27.000000
DJF452 2002-06-05 STGNEW
15:16:06.000000
DJF452 2002-06-14 STGDELETE
01:19:38.000000
DJF452 2005-08-25 REMOTE
07:34:10.000000
Many Thanks
