Hi TSM'rs,

I have a doubt regarding the DRM process. Here is the query..

How to recover a offiste volume ,if the volume is physically damaged during the COURIER process to remote location.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks

COPY POOL TAPE - You delete it, then backup the pool again and it will get recreated.
PRIMARY TAPE - Restore volume

On high level it works this way:

1. You mark the tape as damaged (no need to put it into library)

2. "restore volume XXXXXX" - if the TSM server has the files from damaged tapes stored elsewhere (copy pool) it will grab either scratch tape or a tape that is in the same stgpool and is not full and will start copying the files there.

When a file is copied (recovered) the reference in database is redirected from damaged tape the that new tape. The final status is that damaged tape contains nothing - if everything went OK

Try to google for more detailed procedure....
