Upgrade TSM 5.1 to TSM 5.5, gpfs pre-requisite failure

I am attempting to install/upgrade TSM 5.5 client over TSM 5.1.5.15 on AIX. This is my first time. I have all the 5.5 client files. However my prerequisites fails because of the GPFS file set that is not installed on AIX. I am currently on AIX 5.3.0.0. (5300-09-02-0849)

Below is the pre-requisite requirement that the installation is complaining about. I have never heard of GPFS. Is it IBM free ware? Where can it be downloaded/installed? Any information would be appreciated, thanks.

First question to ask - are you using GPFS? If not, do not select the GPFS install files when you install the client via SMIT.

This is why it is failing. You elected to select all to install but GPFS is not needed in your case.

By the way, GPFS is General Parallel File System. It has been there for a while: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_General_Parallel_File_System
