have a IBM 3582 (2 fibre drives via sans switch) connected to the host (Sun Solaris 8 ) running TSM 5.2.0 server and IBMtape device driver 4.0.8.0, getting the following messages when trying to label new media:
ANR8819E Unable to read the barcode label(s) in library LIB.TAPE.01.
ran lbtest as well, i can move the media around to/from shelves and drives but lbtest shows the following when i do a "return_lib_invenstory"
Slot 23 (address 4118 FULL)
abnormal_state = 0 accessible = 1 source_addr_flag = 1, source_elem_addr = 4118
invert_media_flag = 0, barcode_flag = 1, barcode_len = 6
barcode =
oddly enough, when i do a "return_enhance_lib_inventory_all", i get
Slot 23 (address 4118 FULL)
abnormal_state = 0 accessible = 1 source_addr_flag = 1, source_elem_addr = 4118
invert_media_flag = 0, barcode_flag = 1, barcode_len = 36
barcode =
Media domain = 21 Media Type = -1 Element Dev Type = 998
our barcode naming convention is 3 characters and 5 digits, ie. TXX12345. anyone know why the barcode_len difference? and what's the problem to get this barcode label recognized? i can physically see the inventory in the library LCD so it seems the library barcode scanner is reading the label just fine.
thanks!
