Hello all,

We are experiencing a strange issue where, after an upgrade from TSM 7.1.1 to TSM 7.1.4 and subsequent reboot of the server, the autoconf utility is no longer able to see our IBM drives.

I've tried changing permission on the drives in the /dev/ directory using chmod a+rw, but that is not working either.

When running /opt/tivoli/tsm/devices/bin/autoconf, only the library is showing up, not the tape drives.

What's strange is that everything was working normally before. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the lin_tape driver, but that is also not working.

I'm aware that I can manually create the lb.conf and mt.conf files in /opt/tivoli/tsm/devices/bin/ but we never had to use that before on this instance of TSM, so I am a bit hesitant to do that.

Please let me know if I am missing anything.

We are running TSM 7.1.4 on Red Hat 6.7

Thanks in advance for your help!

You have to manually recreate the definitions for the tape drives.

Linux has the issue of juggling device names after reboot.

Also, to add, when running autoconf, I would get this error:

shell-init: error retrieving current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent directories: No such file or directory

This seems like its either a permissions issue, or a directory or file is missing somewhere.
