I'm pulling my hair out here.

I have installed the TSM 5.5 client on various flavours of linux. We have it running on AIX, RHEL, Ubuntu 8.10/8.04. I have it installed on our first Ubuntu 9.04 server using EXT4 and I'm getting the following error every time I try to run a backup:

ANS1149E No domain is available for incremental backup. The domain may be empty or all file systems in the domain are excluded.

We've tried deleting and recreating the node, changing the password, and using Domain ALL-LOCAL.

For the life of me, I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. The following is my configuration files:

dsm.opt:
ServerName TSMServer
Domain ALL-LOCAL
DateFormat 3

dsm.sys:
ServerName TSMServer
COMMMethod TCPip
TCPPort 1500
TCPServeraddress 000.000.000.000
nodename nodename
passwordaccess generate
ErrorLogName "/var/log/tsm/dsmerror.log"
ErrorLogRetention 5 D
SchedLogName "/var/log/tsm/dsmsched.log"
SchedLogRetention 5 D
Inclexcl /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/inclexcl

inclexcl:
INCLUDE /
EXCLUDE.DIR /tmp
EXCLUDE.DIR /dev

Have you tried the default setting of not specifying any inclexcl file and no include or exclude statements?

By default, TSM will try to backup everything.

Have you tried patching up the BA client version?

Yes, I've updated the client to 6.6.1 and taken out the inclexcl file (and taken out teh Inclexcl line) and it still gives the same "No domain" error.

How about just 5.5.x and not 6.1 (I presume this is what you mean by 6.6.1)?

You are correct, 6.1. I'll try reinstalling 5.5 and patch it completely.

Client Version 5, Release 5, Level 2.0

I'm still getting the same error. I'm drawing a blank.

Hm, looks like TSM client has some problems with file system (ext4)
let's try with putting this in dsm.sys:

virtualmountpoint /

let me know if it works.

The virtualmountpoint / worked!

Thank you very much, I was about ready to throw this thing out the window!

Thanks for posting and answering this question. It just helped me:)
