TSM Server fixpack - 7.1.7

Hi Friends

I am planning to install the fixpack 7.1.7 in the TSM server 7.1.3.

Is there anything specific I need to be checking, other than the OS and hardware requirements?
Like TDP version compatibility, ?

So long as all of the Clients (BA / TDP etc..) are within their current supported levels, then you should be good. Anything older i.e 6.x.x would ring alarm bells for me.

If your clients are 7.1.x and above you should be safe as even 8.1.6 servers will still support 7.1.x clients, but always keep an eye on product EOS & EOL announcements from IBM.

The Operations Center will also tell you if a client is 'unsupported'.. The client will still backup, however you may see failures to some degree which can easily be remedied by an upgrade locally to the client, subject to the OS compatability.

Most important step, perform a database backup before you start, and make a copy of dsmserv.opt, devconfig and volhist. 99.99% of the time, the upgrade goes smooth, if you are part of the 0.01%, you will be glad you have a backup.
