Hi All,

I am working on a recovery plan that will utilise a secondary tsm server running in a remote data centre. As our primary tsm server db is quite large (too large to send over the wire to our dr site), the idea is to run daily incremental db backups to virtual volumes hosted by the secondary server, and also running a weekly full db backup that is sent to the dr site via courier.
Is it possible to restore the tsm db using a combination of full and incremental backups with differing device classes?
I can restore the full db backup from tape, but the attempt to then restore the incremental db backup fails with the message "ANR4650E Restore of backup series 3 operation 1 is not in sequence; last restored backup was series 0 operation 0."
Does anyone know if this can be done, or is there another way I should be looking to do this?

Regards

Andrew

All sorted

Hi All,

managed to sort it out after reading the manual (of course!)

dsmserv restore db todate=today

this used the volhist.out and mounted both the tape volume used for the full dbb and the virtual volume used for the incremental dbb
