Part of the DRM process is re-installing Tivoli which requires you to define/format the database and recovery logs(a very slow process). In the past we left these small and then let the DRM scripts create the actual recover Database and Logs (another very slow process). If we make the DB and logs the proper size while doing the install can we pull that part out of the DRM process. My concern is that you can only create one DB volume during the install and we currently have 3, will the restore work if we only have 1 large DB volume ?

As long as the total volumes size is above the restored DB's size the restore should work fine.

In anycase you can create multiply LOG \ DB volumes before restoring using "dsmserv format"

Yes, as long as it meet the following critera:

1) It is as large as, or larger than the original.

2) Does not violate the rules for file size on the recovery platform.

You must pass both criteria to have this work w/o problems, but TSM server will tell you what it's not happy about if you don't get right.
