So I made some calls and did some digging and I found what we paid for in 2009. I'm curious if you have similar items.
We have about 1000 nodes running on a 200-400 PVU server. We have another 400 VMs running on blade servers that I haven't dialed in the PVU on just yet. We have about 12 Exchange Servers using the TDP 3 Lotus Domino servers using the TDP and 2 large Oracle servers using TDP.
This is what we purchased:
Product Description Part # Qty
TSM for System Backup & Recovery 10 Value Units SW E029JLL 110
TSM Extended Ed 10 Value Units SW (4/1/2009 -- 12/31/2009) - TSM Server E029ELL 21290
TSM for Databases 10 Value Units SW - Oracle Only E028WLL 500
TSM for Mail 10 Value Units (PVUS) SW (4/1/2009 -- 12/31/2009) - Notes/Exchange E026BLL 500
My environment is not as big as yours. Basically we are about a fifth of your size with a higher VM to physical server ratio. Also, you are using more TDP items than us. As for billing, fortunately I just have to confirm the numbers of what we use and then someone higher in management pays the final bill, so I don't have to worry about such things.
Is anyone out there looking at FDR Upstream as a TSM replacement? Rock solid on the zseries platform. They have a open systems version that will run on most HW.
