Hello ! I am going to backup ESX virtual Servers using TSM 6. Could you recommend me most useful and correct way to make things work? Thank you

"Useful" and "correct" all depends on your situation, and how you want to restore the thing. There are a number of ways of doing this. I haven't seen any TSM documentation specific to VMware, so take a look at the following documents:

"Using IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Backup and Restore on the VMware Service Console" (this is not a red book)
"Virtual Machine Backup Guide" (this is a VMware document)

Then look at the TSMv6 installation & admin guides to see what has changed (you have more options with v6)

One way is by using VCB (VMWare Consolidated Backup), here is a link:

http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_35/esx_3/r35/vi3_35_25_vcb_release_notes.pdf

Here is a FAQ from IBM: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21320783

What normally ends up is that people load the BA client on the each Virtual environment and backup from there.

hi, I am looking for this thread. We are using TSM 5.5 server. Is is possible to install TSM BA client in VMWare ESX-i 4.0? Is there any other thing to be installed? Moom-buddy mentioned to use VCB. But I heared that VCB is integrated with TSM BA client 5.4.2 and above. Is it so? Have any one experienced ? Please share with me.
