Hi,

something very very strange...

our server is 5.1.7, in a win2000 server 5.2 client (with C and D folders) i wanted to backup only files from D:

in my client include/exclude options i entered:

exclude C:\...\*

the server operates a client schedule in the night (nothing in the object line...)...

in the morning - surprise, C is backed up too...

what's wrong here?

(i must mention i had problem with solaris clients too, there only the / file system was backed up, i downgraded to 5.1.5 clients...)

thanks

Don't forget, when you use an exclusion like c:...* you are only telling TSM to not backup any files. Directories will still be included. Also the dsm.opt is read fromthe bottom up. If you have any include statements (i.e. MC inclusion lists) listed below you general exclude statement they will be read first and subsiquintly used.

A good way to prevent filespaces/directories from being backed up is to either use in the DSM.OPT file something like:

Domain D: (or)

Domain -C:

The first will only backup D: and the second will backup everything but C:. You choose whichever one fits the bill for your particular situation.

Regards,

John
