Hi all,

I'm trying to migrate my actual backup solutions (BMC SqlBacktrack using TSM) to Tivoli Data Protection for Oracle.
Environement is TDP 5.5.1 and API 5.5.2 on Linux x64 and oracle 11gR2

The whole backup of DB using BMC takes about 3 times less than TDP.
I've check TDP parameters without facing any strange things.

TSM server is writing on disks and not on tapes.

Checking v$backup_async_io ...
Effective_bytes_per_second is 15Mb as average
Total_Waits/IO_Count is 0.9999

dsm.sys reports:

TCPBuffersize 16
TCPWindow 16
Diskbuffersize 16
Compression on
Resourceutilization 4

A datafile of 4096m takes 07:15 min to be backupped.

Any hints?

Thanks
Ste

Have you tried playing with the TCPbuffsize and TCPWindow values. I believe that there is some performance gains to be expected there.

I am no Oracle expert but there is a value you can set to use multiple channels on the Oracle side. You will have to set the maxnummp value accordingly for this node. Not sure if Resourceutilization has any effect on TDP.
