Hello everyone,

I've been wondering if anyone else has been using TSM (TDP for SQL) to take full and differential backups (no log backups!) of their SQL db's while using Management Studio for log shipping to their DR server? Can anyone think of a reason why I shouldn't set it up this way?

The main reason as to why I want to change the current way of working (log shipping via TSM) is that I won't need to install TDP for SQL on the DR server (saving a license) while, hopefully, obtaining the same result.

Many thx in advance for your feedback :)

Yeah it sounds fine, you have a standby DR so no need to restore using TDP. But remember using
TDP in DR does not constitute a license as the software is not in use.
If you use IBM license metric tool DR licenses are excluded, yes IBM is aware.
Remember when you in DR you are not using your production TDP software so the license unit just moves
across to DR.
