Hi all.
I'm working on a SLES 10.
I'm updating an existent TSM environment (5.3)

I've installed TSM BA Client and API 5.4.2.0.
Now i'm going to install the TDP for Mail (Domino) same release - 5.4.2.

But, when i start installation:

LK4T-3781-00/domino/linux86 # ./TDP-Domino.i386.bin -i console
Preparing to install...
Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive...
Configuring the installer for this system's environment...
...
API is not installed
--------------------
The Tivoli Storage Manager Client API v5.4.1.2 is not installed.

...it tells me that the API (v5.4.1.2) are not installed.

I must install TSM BA/API rel 5.4.1.2?
Is not good 5.4.2?

Any suggest?
Thanks!

Regards
M

API not installed properly. This will prevent installing the TDP for Domino.

Can you open the Ba-client GUI??

If not reinstall the Ba-client so that API installs properly.

As you are upgrading the environment have you unistalled the previous version properly.

Hi and thanks for reply.

The previous environment (5.3.0 for both BA client and TDP for Mail) work without problems for few years.

In those server we have not install any WM, and i'm working remotely through a ssh connection.
I try
/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmc query session
or
/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmc incremental /home/user
and it works.
Also the scheduler works - i've tried defining a clientaction.

This night i've worked around that problem.
I've solved in this way:
1. force the uninstall of the API (level 5.4.2) previously installed and
2. force the installation of the API (level 5.4.1.2) included in the TDP package.

In this way the TDP works perfectly.
But now i have a discrepancy between BA Client level (5.4.2) and API level (5.4.1.2).
Both BA Client and TDP for Mail work good, but i'm planning to try:
- downgrade also the BA CLient level to 5.4.1.2
or
- try to upgrade the API level to 5.4.2.

The most inmportant thing for me, in this case, is that the TDP for Mail work.

Any suggest is well accepted :-D

hi,

from my own experience on tsm for domino, you should install API (no matter which version) before the tdp program. Moreover, you should uninstall previous release of tdp and install on the machine with the api on it.
On my customers places it is currently working with api 5.4.2 and tdp 5.4.2, although platform is not SLES.
I think you can safely live with your discrepancy; however you might want to try to uninstall tdp, then install API 5.4.2, and at last install tdp 5.4.2.
I believe it will work
good luck

once you try to upgrade tehen you have to uninstall both the Ba-Client as well as TDP. it wiil be typical. So try to downgrade TDP. But my advice is if the environment is successfully running dont make any changes in it. Concentrate in performance tuning to increse the resourse you have.

Any TSM suit like server, Client TDP's wiil support +-1version. So you will not face problem if you near configuration among them.
