Tapepool to copypool and copypool to tapepool

SniperKing Hi Mik, i can see that you have 2 TSM instances of the same version as 5.5.0, namely TSM_SERVER1 (LTO3), and TSM_SERVER (LTO6). i would say server A and server B correspondingly then.

So i guess your boss would like you to migrate the old TSM to the new TSM by moving all the data into it and also make a backup pool as offsite on the new server.

Here we go the question, if the above statement is correct.
1) how the server B being built? (build from scratch or from DB backup from server A)?

Yes that we want to migrate the old to the new and after works with the new (and put off the old)

The server B (LTO6) was build from scratch.
(The TSM version is OK with TS3200 LTO6 ?)

Thanks

Hi,

LTO6 would require TSM version 6.2.5 + or 6.3.3+, you may refer to the following site
http://www-01.ibm.com/software/sysm...ported_Devices_for_Linux.html#LTO Tape Drives

And TSM 5.5 would be EOS next year.. so you must use a new TSM 6.3.3+ which is recommended for a LTO6 and perform data migration from v5 to v6.

Hi SniperKing,

It's better to move the database first, after upgrade the server and finishing by moving the data ?
It's is not the better choice tell me the best please and how do that

Thanks

Hi SniperKing,

First i have to upgrade the TSM server B (LTO6) in 6.2.5+ or 6.3.3+ ?
And after when i have updated the server LTO6 ?
To migrate the old server (LTO3 5.5) to the new server (LTO6) ?

Thanks
Hi Mik,

Firstly, I suggest you to update to 6.3.4 (which is less buggy in DB2)....
Secondly, Perform the server 5.5 migration to 6 via network method / media method... (you could get a migration guide from IBM site)

Hi SniperKing (one more times thanks ;)),

First i upgrade my TSM (with LTO6) in 6.3.4 (he have just LTO6 scratch, library and one database (not in production she can change)
And after i perform the migration to the old server (5.5 lto3) to the new (after update 6.3.4 LTO6)
I found this on IBM but i'am not sure http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/t...bm.itsm.srv.upgrd.doc/b_srv_upgrade_guide.pdf

It's that (i'am on windows server not linux)

Thanks

My boss and myself thank you, we hope to update and migration will be okay and I would come to the new once that is done.

Thank you again.
