I have one tape that shows in the wrong stgpool. Tape number 000495 is supposed to be in the stgpool=vault. When I do the command "q vol 000495 f=d" it shows the stgpool=primary. This tape is actually in the vault. How do I update TSM to tell it that this tape is in the stgpool=vault?

You are confusing a few things.
A tape is assigned to a pool when it's defined in the pool. You cannot change the assignment unless the tape is returned to scratch(empty and defined to a new pool. Where the tape physically resides has no relevance to the pool it is assigned to.

So what you are saying is that the tape is actually in the wrong location. If the tape is assigned to a primary pool, it belongs onsite, if it's assigned to a copy pool, then it belongs in the fault.

So you need to take that tape from the vault, bring it back and check it in the library.
