We bought TSM Sysback and Recovery which I would like to implement soon. Currently there is a TSM client on each AIX box which runs backups every night. In addition, when there are changes to the OS I run a mksysb and burn to DVD-RAM.

I am looking for a high level view of this product and its architecture and after it is implemented if I should still be running mksysb's to disc. The Installation and User's Guide kind of jumps right in without really explaining what it is, and so far general explanations on IBM's site that I've found are lacking. I'd also be interested to know if sysback is something that could be useful on our AIX TSM server or if this would cause a chicken and egg problem.

Thanks!
