Hi all,

There is one storage pool of device class 3590.
Now i want to move all the data contained by tapes in this storage pool to another new storage pool of device class 3592.

Please suggest steps to create a storage pool.

thanks in advance!

I am assuming that you will get rid of the 3590 tapes by moving the data on these tapes to the 3592 tapes. Depending on the amount of data on the 3590 tapes, this process may take a long time.

You can use the direct approach by definning a new storage pool linked to the 3592 dev class and issuing the command 'move data <3590_volume> stgpool=<new_3592_pool>. Caveat: you have to do this for all 3592 tapes.

An indirect approach is to check in the 3592 tapes into the same storgae pool (of course you need to modify the storage pool parameters) or create a new storage pool, mark all 3590 tapes as read-only and start using the 3592 tapes for node backups. Over time, when expiration runs, the data on the 3590 falls off. This approach can be used for both online and copy pool - using the 3592 tapes.
