Hi I've been tasked with backing up a Dell Equallogic NAS to tape. Their plan is to keep 7 days on snapshots on the NAS and then for us to backup the cifs drives using a windows proxy server. The issue with the proxy server is that I cannot backup NTFS permissions directly from the nas shares. The current solution is to backup the NTFS permissiosn with icacls and then backup the icacls alogn with the TSM file-level backup but I really don't like this idea very much as a DR solution. Does anyone have any "outside the box" suggestions for backing up these NAS shares without bringing up NDMP?
The reason we can't do NDMP is because the containers are up to 40 TB each and we MUST be able to run the full backup in less than a day.
Thanks
